Burlesque Bonanza! Checking in with the Queen Dita Von Teese + the Amazing Suicide Girls of Blackheart Burlesque + Hooters Swimsuit competition Road to Vegas & more - NSFW (Mar-May 2017)

This Spring in the months of March through May things heated up with the Queen of Burlesque + the Suicide Girls are back on the road & the best & brightest in the Hooters franchise are headed to Vegas.

The Art of the Teese w/ Dita Von Teese - March 4th - House of Blues

Ending her highly successful tour in Dallas, Dita Von Teese dazzled with her newest revue The Art of the Teese. For me personally I turned a year older at midnight & was happy to be celebrating in style.

Von Teese, 44, is the "Meryl Streep of burlesque," as Vanity Fair once put it, a dancer who va-va-vooms to elaborately arranged striptease music on stage while seductively removing her clothing, in the style of 20th-century heroines.

As Von Teese expanded her act, with feathers, Swarovski crystals, Jean Paul Gaultier butterfly corsets and a mechanical bull covered in pink velvet, it became clear how she has developed a reputation as everybody's favorite celebrity burlesque dancer. For this latest tour, Von Teese has arranged an expanded version of a show she did at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris, complete with new male backup dancers.

She brought the martini glass, of course, which she created years ago, after befriending burlesque colleague Catherine D'Lish at a Las Vegas stripper convention. The crowd naturally responded in kind, made up of mostly women from every age & background & the LGBTQ community was largely represented as well. MC & host Murray Hill did a fantastic job, intertwining comedy with androgyny, really keeping the pace while each set was being prepared.

The show, a national tour, also featured other heavyweights in Burlesque such as Dallas' own Ginger Valentine who performed at every date.

Though I'm sure this was an act that was part of every show, the rhinestone mechanical bull just felt like it was special just for this Texas crowd & the audience certainly responded as if it was.

The show’s finale delighted with a seemingly unending rain of glitter - Dita’s reputation for sexy elegance is far reaching & the show ended in a glorious maelstorm of sheer glory.

The Art of the Teese pays homage to the legendary burlesque acts of yesteryear, bringing back the classic images of yesteryear & for me personally, the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. Thanks to Dita for having us & go see this show!

Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque Show - April 26th - Gas Monkey Live - Dallas, TX

Geek culture have invaded American entertainment at all levels. What used to be whispered about at Dungeons & Dragons night is now the bread and butter of the still-new millennial mindset when it comes to fun on Saturday night.

One need look no further than Blackheart Burlesque, the latest traveling show by punk ethos alt-models the Suicide Girls, to see just how deeply and profoundly the once-derided nerds & dweebs have inherited the earth. While I can't count myself as a member of the tribe, to a layman I would be considered a nerd but even I didn't get all the references but ultimately who cares cause the girls are freaking HOT.

I'm also not a novice when it comes to this tour or the SG gang, I've seen this show (now in it's third year) in every incarnation & have been a proud subscriber of SuicideGirls.com literally since it's infancy so you could say I'm a bit of a fan.

For this tour, the show was being MC'd by Katherine Suicide, a departure from Sunny who thankfully was still in the show but I think mixing it up was a good idea. Katherine also performed in the show did an excellent job in this role that she seemed more suited for, leaving Sunny to focus on her other contributions to the show which are some if it's highlights.

Sunny

If ever such a thing existed that someone was actually born to do this, meaning to perform liberatingly naked (or close to it) & celebrating freedom of sexuality it would be Sunny. If you've ever been lucky enough to be in the rare presence of a woman that just somehow exuded sex just by breathing, you know what I'm talking about. And even then, chances are, she didn't look like Sunny.
This girl just IS sexiness - Described for her first encounter with SG - She appeared at one of these shows as a patron, got up onstage during the "audience participation" portion a few years ago in NYC. And when this happens there is an almost zero chance the attendee is gonna be fearless enough to bare any skin to would warrant an NSFW tag. In Sunny's case, at that initial show she took ALL of her clothes off & according to Katherine, never left. We are all the better for this decision.

Sunny also did her bananas rendition of Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid dressed as a topless Ariel, altering the lyrics to fit the narrative. She really is an accomplished singer & this act has become a highlight as well as a staple of Blackheart Burlesque.

People would come from far and wide if the only thing they were gonna see was five minutes of sexy Wonder Woman but there was waaaaay more coming:

The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda is about as far from sexy as pop culture gets but with an EMD version of one of the Zelda game themes on the soundtrack, a solo Suicide Girl managed to get startlingly sweet and sexy at the same time during a brief homage to the popular franchise.

Huge hit number after huge hit number followed.

Star Wars

Not sure I ever considered how much sexier Boba Fett would be if he were a hot biker chick with a tramp-stamp where his jet-pack ought to be, but the evidence is on display at every show. The Star Wars number is pure geek-nerd-sex delirium and definitely something I’ll never forget.

 Game of Thrones

GOT spectacular had it all, the fans reacted most strongly to this number & for me personally was the highlight of the show. An incredible take & a job well-done.

Their signature brand of pop-culture burlesque continued as a couple was invited on stage to go lap-to-lap in a lap-dance competition with Lyric Suicide and asked a man to take a third-grade reading quiz while receiving a lap dance from Penelope Suicide.

The girls are so awesome & fan-friendly that they hold a meet & greet before every show which also provides an opportunity to meet local Suicide Girls who they often will also invite to come onstage and be represented.

When it comes to SG, even their merch girls are smoldering hot - British babes Lucerne & Mikhaul are also Suicide Girls in their own right with their own profiles & model sets, not to mention amazingly cool.

If you haven't seen this show, make it a priority, it's so much fun with amazing, open-minded, liberated performers & fans with an unbelievably killer soundtrack which you find here -

Hooters' Road to Vegas Swimsuit Competition Finals - May 10th - House of Blues - Dallas, TX

The final stop on the The Road to Vegas - 30 of the top Hooters Girls from all over the state of Texas competed for the title of Miss Hooters North Texas 2017.

A super fun event that also doubled as a charity fundraiser for Children with Autism that brought out the most gorgeous competitors from the North Texas area Hooters franchise & their friends & families & other supporters for a wonderful evening of beautiful ladies in Swimsuits raising money for a great cause.

Prior to competition a few of the ladies in their most stylish evening wear  - From L-R

Sabrina Martin, Kyndra Lawler, Sabrina Murillo, Maddison Vest, Christi Jordan, Mayra Martinez, Elizabeth Dominguez & Katie Borsellino

Their were two rounds of main competition: In the first the ladies wore a variety of colorful swimsuits filing in a very pageantry order before each model was called individually to present solo on a mini-runway.

Some began to break away from the pack immediately like Elizabeth Dominguez & Hillary Silva (Number 11).

Silva, seen here earning a slot to compete at our home location in North Arlington.

In the second round she only continued to just dazzle the crowd & dominate the attention of seemingly everyone in attendance, along with Kyndra Lawler & Tetiana Velasquez. In my opinion by the second round they could have just handed the title to Silva.

Others that stood out almost immediately in that first round were:

Miranda Frick (19)

Monet Conteras (21) & Lacy Dickey (23)

Both rounds saw stunning presentations as well from:

Laura Dungan (left)
& Mandy Mcknight (right)

Kyndra Lawler (left)
& Brianna Ramos (right)

Another strong competitor was one of the first presented of the evening with Chloe Gregory stunning in both rounds.

The judges: Brian Glenn, Steve Kemble & Ash Victoria had a serious tough decision narrowing all these insanely gorgeous women down to just six (except for Hillary Silva where it was a no-brainer that she would be a finalist, if not the clear winner).

Five other competitors secured available spots to compete for the title of Miss Hooters International in Las Vegas this July.

Finalists from L-R

Chloe Gregory, Elizabeth Domiguez, Lacy Dickey, Brianna Ramos, Miranda Frick & Monet Conteras

Now all of these women are totally deserving, but were the judges watching the same competition that I was? How Hillary Silva wasn't a finalist is baffling & will never make sense. Silva was so clearly the run-away winner of this maybe she got disqualified for being, I don't know....too hot?

Before they revealed who the winner of the competition was, a few local Marines raffled off some prizes to raise money for autism support.

And while all six finalists are headed to Vegas, there could only be one winner crowned Miss North Texas & your winner is....

Congratulations to all the participants for making it this far & to the winners headed to Vegas. This was a great event that also raised alot of money for charity.
